I really don't feel like stretching.....

Writer: Mandi HeadrickMandi Headrick

Seriously though.....

I get it, y’all. Stretching can feel like the biggest drag. Today, I literally had to drag myself to the gym like a small child to foam roll my armpits and mid/low back because my neck was tight, achy, and sore. And yes, I felt so much better afterward. But did I want to do it? NOPE!!!!

Now, you might be thinking, "Wait, don’t you teach stretching for a living?" Yep, I sure do! My whole world revolves around teaching and helping people stretch and move. I demonstrate stretches every day, and yet—I’m not stretching in the way my body needs. I’m showing all of you movements that your bodies need. So after all that, the last thing I want to do is stretch… again!

But here’s the deal: after every foam-rolling session, future me is always, always grateful. I feel lighter, more mobile, and less weighed down by tight, achy joints. Stretching frees up the energy I’d otherwise use fighting stiffness, letting me channel it into something more fun (and maybe a little dopamine-inducing). Ya'll know I'm a huge fan of outside adventures and play time!

So yeah, stretching may feel like a chore at first. But what starts out as something you "have" to do turns into a habit your body will thank you for later. And trust me, future you will be so, so grateful.

So go, breathe and stretch! Happy Fall!!!!!
